We are very excited to introduce our first Beach Rat brand ambassador, especially since she was so vital to our creation by inspiring our company name, the original Beach Rat: Anaya Evans.<\/strong><\/p>

Anaya is an international athlete competing in beach volleyball for England. Currently studying and competing for Grand Canyon University Anaya paved the way for UK beach volleyball players by being the first British person to gain a beach volleyball scholarship in the USA.<\/p>

\"sbtn2gsxkjvdqkescz7m06hhmphzkekexb0cz8vedub0fi71.jpeg\"We caught up with her to get an insight into her life, goals, views on sustainability and all things Beach Rat Designs.<\/p>

Tell us a bit about yourself<\/strong><\/p>

I am an international elite beach volleyball player that currently plays for Grand Canyon University, a division 1 college in America, and for England on the world tour. I grew up on the beach in Croyde, North Devon and love to be outside and in the sun. I am always on the go and enjoying spending time with my family and friends, hiking, or going to the beach. I am also the sister of the Beach Rat designs founder, for nicknames we use the word rat which inspired her to develop the brand with this idea.<\/p>

My current goals are split into various aspects as I feel that is the best way to work towards what I want to achieve each day. For GCU I want to win our conference and the National Championships, this would be an awesome experience for our team. For my national team our goals are to qualify for both the European and World Tour Championships this year. We are also striving to qualify for the Olympics through continental cup qualification. As well as my volleyball goals, I have personal goals, one of which is to live a more sustainable lifestyle.<\/p>

What drew you to being an ambassador for our brand?<\/strong><\/p>

I am drawn to this brand for many reasons. I love that the designs are created from organic visuals which are initially hand drawn through sketch and then printed. The colours and details are unique and change frequently depending on what Emma-Jane has been inspired by, I love this aspect. I also admire that the brand is creating stylish, high-quality clothes whilst remaining sustainable. I think it shows to all of us that living sustainably does not mean sacrifice. Traveling a lot for beach volleyball means a lot of packing and unpacking, the beach rat products are perfect for space saving as they can be worn in so many different situations and are easily matched to make comfortable and stylish outfits.<\/p>

What is your favourite current beach rat design?<\/strong><\/p>

My favourite current beach rat design is the \u2018Cornish Starfish\u2019. This design is nostalgic for me as my sister and I used to look for starfish whenever we were on a beach with rock-pools. I also love the combination of fine detailed drawing with the brushstroke style of colour behind.<\/p>

My biggest achievement to date is winning a bronze medal on the world tour. It was a historic moment for my team and for team England and I had the blessing of celebrating the win with my parents and friends.<\/p>

I love this question as I feel that sustainability can be perceived in so many ways. For me sustainability is an aspect of living a better life. It means caring for more than just myself and showing this daily through the choices I make. Some simple ways I achieve sustainability is using reusable products. I love reusable shopping and vegetable bags, it feels wrong to wrap fruit and veg, something so natural in plastic.<\/p>

Being an international athlete means you travel a lot, do you have any sustainable travel tips?<\/strong><\/p>

This is one of the downfalls of being an international athlete who travels frequently. To reduce my waste when I travel, I like to pack Tuba Wear and reusable snack bags. Doing this really helps me to keep food fresh whilst travelling and not to use single use plastic when I arrive at my destination. If I can, I also car share with others to reduce the amount of vehicles being used, if we don\u2019t have a car, I utilise public transport when I can. Traveling to new places and meeting new people also provides great opportunity to spread awareness of sustainability. One of the ways I can do this now is by wearing and promoting beach rat designs. If you love great clothing, creativity and caring about others this is the brand for you!<\/p>
